In light of COVID-19, some of our universities have modified their GRE requirements. Therefore, please do not take the GRE until you have been explicitly asked to by our program or your university. At this time, most of our universities do not require the GRE if you are admitted through the NYCTF/NYCTC program.
Please Note: The universities we partner with do not have a minimum GRE score requirement.
If you are required to take the GRE, your score on the exam will have no bearing on your candidacy for admission at one of our partner universities. As a result, we encourage you to prioritize studying for your teacher certification exams. We do encourage taking the GRE exam early on for those who may have limited recent experience with standardized testing or computerized testing, as the GRE can serve to build comfort with computerized exams prior to taking your teacher certification exams. Note that some of our university partners are able to use your GRE score to supplement additional coursework, so while your score will not have bearing on your admission, scoring well can be to your benefit.
Please refer to this Computer Based Testing Tutorial to get a sense of what to expect at a testing center. You now also have the option to take the GRE General Test at Home. You can learn more about it here.
