It is a New York state requirement for university placement in alternative teaching certification programs that a candidate’s undergraduate transcript be reviewed for cumulative GPA and coursework. We are bound by our university partnerships and state regulations in this aspect.
Applications will be marked INCOMPLETE if a bachelor's degree transcript is not submitted.
All candidates must have an undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above but there are a few exceptions:
- Candidates with an undergraduate GPA between a 2.5 and 3.0 are eligible to apply but will be required to submit a GPA Statement to provide more context about the GPA that falls below state and university requirements.
- Candidates with an undergraduate GPA below a 2.5 who have also earned a graduate degree must submit their graduate degree transcript if they earned at least a 3.0 upon its completion.
We are unable to offer further exceptions to our GPA requirement, regardless of where your GPA was earned or any other academic or professional achievements.
You are generally welcome to upload your transcripts from any graduate work that you have completed. This is helpful to our team if you would like to use coursework from your graduate studies to meet credit requirements for certain subject area assignments.
