Bachelor's final GPA is below 2.5 requirement AND no graduate degree earned |
Your undergraduate final GPA was below a 2.5 and you did not earn a graduate degree. It is a New York state requirement for university placement in alternative teaching certification programs that a candidate’s undergraduate GPA must be a 3.0 or above. Our university partners will consider candidates with an undergraduate GPA of a 2.5 or below ONLY if they have a graduate degree with a final GPA of a 3.0 or above. You did not submit a graduate transcript showing a final GPA of a 3.0 or above. |

You completed a bachelor's or graduate education degree program that included a pathway to becoming a certified teacher in the United States OR you completed an alternative teaching certification program that allowed you to earn your teaching license in the United States. Candidates cannot have earned a bachelor’s or master’s degree that could lead to being certified as an early childhood, elementary or secondary level teacher in the United States or U.S. territories. OR Candidates cannot have started pre-service training in the following alternative certification programs: NYC Teaching Fellows, NYC Teaching Collaborative, Pathways to PE. OR Candidates cannot have completed an alternative teaching certification program in New York State. This article provides more information and resources. |
Currently certified to teach in the U.S. or a U.S. Territory |
You currently hold certification to teach in the U.S. or a U.S. Territory. Candidates are not eligible to participate in the NYC Teaching Collaborative if they are currently certified to teach at early childhood, elementary and/or secondary levels in the United States, including U.S. territories. This program cannot be used simply to gain employment in the NYC DOE. This article provides more information and resources. |
Previously certified to teach in the U.S. or a U.S. Territory |
You have previously held certification to teach in the U.S. or a U.S. Territory. Candidates are not eligible to participate in the NYC Teaching Collaborative if they have been certified to teach at the early childhood, elementary and/or secondary levels in the United States, including U.S. territories at any earlier point in time.
