All NYC Teaching Collaborative participants are working towards earning their Transitional B certification and must take certification exams. However, the exams that you are required to take are dependent upon your subject area assignment. All candidates are required to take the Educating All Students (EAS) exam. Based on your individual subject area, you are required to take a Content Specialty Test (CST). With the exception of our Biology and Chemistry Immersion Partner Teachers, you will not learn specific content during training that will enable you to perform better on these exams. As such, we strongly recommend taking the exams prior to the start of training. Note that these certification areas are based on what is being offered by NYCTC in 2021. Some subject areas are confirmed and others may still be waiting to be confirmed based on the needs of the NYC DOE.
